National Representation for Landcare & other Community Groups

The National Landcare Network comprises the NLN Board & Members Council

The NLN Board comprises 8 members, one Director from each NLN Member State and Territory. The Chair and Vice-Chair are appointed from within their numbers. The Board is not representative, rather its function is to administer and direct the activities of the NLN.

The Members Council is the representative heart of the NLN and is comprised of 24 grassroots Landcarers, 3 from each State and Territory. The Board and Members Council work independently of each other but in constant collaboration with high levels of consultation and feedback between each.

The Board and Members Council are supported by a small dedicated team including the CEO, Jim Adams and support staff.

How We Work

The Members’ Council provides the national representative forum for the identification, evaluation, debate and resolution of issues for Community Landcare across Australia. The Council is responsible for establishing a system for regular consultation and engagement of members and stakeholders in order to represent the majority of Landcare and related organisations in their respective states and territories.

The Board of Directors is informed by the Members Council and input from the states and territories and provides the strategic and administrative direction for the National Landcare Network.

Landcare Australia

"Landcare Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation, established more than 30 years ago, that supports the landcare community with funding, capacity-building, on-ground projects, information, networking and promotion of landcare achievements. Across Australia, our partnerships support thousands of people involved in landcare to protect local ecosystems that contribute to the sustainability and productivity of our land and water assets. Together with landcare groups, our efforts improve biodiversity, build resilience in Australia’s food and farming systems, and create stronger communities. Landcare Australia is also a service provider for government programs and delivers major land restoration projects."
