NEW PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN NATIONAL LANDCARE NETWORK AND GLOBAL LANDCARE HERALDS BOOST IN LANDCARE IMPACT

The Landcare movement’s national and global impact is set to advance in leaps and bounds this Landcare Week with a new partnership established between the National Landcare Network and Global Landcare.

The partnership will enhance collaboration and deliver capacity and knowledge building through cross-cultural exchange as well as amplify the impact of the Landcare approach, driving adoption and innovation of local actions that deliver on the global outcomes of the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Please see statement below from Dr Louise Duxbury, Chair of the National Landcare Network:

“Landcare is internationally recognised as a powerful, volunteer driven movement that began right here in Australia. We’re thrilled that this new partnership will allow us to strengthen both our national and global impact through collaboration on shared projects and cross-cultural exchange.

From sea level rises and flooding, to bushfires and extreme weather events, we are facing significant environmental challenges on a global scale. It is more important than ever that we work together, learn from and support one another, so we can grow and accelerate our impact.

We know that local actions deliver global outcomes, and by strengthening the bonds between the National Landcare Network and Global Landcare through joint events and opportunities, as well as encouraging Australian landcarers to share their knowledge with the international community, we will be able to build a more resilient and capable network on a global scale.

The National Landcare Network is eager to get started on our shared work with Global Landcare that will support our communities to take climate action, as well as protect and enhance their land, water and biodiversity in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).”

Please see statement below from Andrea Mason, Chair of Global Landcare:

“While Landcare’s roots lie here in Australia, Global Landcare has achieved a fantastic impact worldwide, supporting the growth of the Landcare movement in over 25 countries including Germany, Iceland, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Philippines, Uganda, Kenya, Japan, the United States, Canada and Jamaica.

With the Global Landcare network facilitating a range of strategic partnerships and collaborations to build capacity at the local, regional, national and global levels, we are thrilled to work together with the National Landcare Network to advance our success both here in Australia and internationally.

This collaboration will advance and amplify the impact of the Landcare approach through cross-pollination, mentoring, knowledge sharing and exchange, and Global Landcare is excited at the prospect of delivering workshops and learning opportunities through this partnership for landcarers both in Australia and internationally.

We look forward to collaborating with the National Landcare Network on future projects that support international solidarity in taking a community-led approach to the protection and enhancement of our environment.”
